Climate and tourist seasons:

The south of Italy offers an average of 250 days of sunshine per year - excellent for sun lovers. The Mediterranean Sea is a great place to swim in from June to October: 20 - 24 C° or about 70 F° water temperature. Flowers bloom in March/April and again in October/November, the best months for walking, windsurfing. There are very few tourists in in Mai, June, July.

The Italian high season with stylish people "feragosto" starts around july 25th and ends august 20th. Very dry "African" summer days are waiting for the heat lover in July and August - the high season (35° Celsius / 95 F° or more).
In the fall, there is also excellent light for photography. In both spring and fall there may be some storms, so bring a jacket. If you love walking, you will love the island
Please note that there may be water restrictions in dry summers from July to September! Drinking water is guaranteed so.

Some tips:

Ready for the island?

Please count the number of questions you can answer with YES:

I still feel fine even if ...
... encountering mule-trails in bad condition and for 500 meters not suitable for suitcase tourism
.
... I have to take a 15 minutes walk to restaurants and grocery stores.
... a strong storm should force me to leave a day earlier in order to catch the plane.
... I have to conserve the precious "good" water in summer times.
